MFH3 RUN 110 4TH OF JULY RUN

It’s American Independence Day and what a novel way to celebrate it with the only American we know in our midst—Joseph “CIA Joe” Bianculli who hails from Chicago, USA. His pad was even decked with everything American from table cloth to trimmers on the doorway complete with Western music that reverberated thru’ the neighbourhood. The food was totally Western except for a surprise treat of ‘drunken chicken soup’ & omelette veggie brought by Alice.
We had a big turnout in terms of Hash attendance plus additional guests personally invited by our host CIA Joe to celebrate that auspicious day for him sans fireworks. With a big crowd like that, the car park spilled out to the shoulder of the hi-way parallel to his place.
By 7.00 pm GM Uncle Lee flag off the run which started from the entrance of the Golden Valley housing estate and snaked thru gated playground. Later we were out on the open field then took a sharp turn to the right toward the ridge of the hill. At that time the moon was not out yet only the eastern horizon seemed to be bright. In my experience during night time, even how fast you are, you tend to slow down to avoid spraining your ankles or get entwined in prickly vines let alone fall into deep hole, so everyone slowed down especially the part where we had to cross a few flood canals.
There were few FRB’s however, just overtook us and in seconds were gone into the thickets enveloped by the darkness. Later we emerged from the seemingly thick jungle out to an open field where the sky was already brightly hued. As we gained height, we couldn’t hear anymore the sound of passing cars from busy city hi-way, instead the cacophony of singing from chirping cicadas & mating crickets permeated thru’ the air.
Some of the Bunnies who joined us were Nini & Maria Lee, Lilian Chin & Chu Lee Nyet “Julieh” but Dolly “sT.BerNarD” Tsen decided to stay behind since she was in-charge of the music, while PTH2 GM Michael Chio & gf Cherry-Ann finished the run along with few guests from other hash chapters.
From the open field, it was another huff-puffing climb tho’ the slope was not at all very steep. Whether the ladies made a few stops to view at the scenery or were just trying to catch up their breath, either ways we were already half-way thru’. Passing by the parameter of the radar station, the paper took us some more to the highest point of the ridge then down to a flat open space. From there it was just an easy stroll back to the base.
For FRB’s the whole run was just be under 30mins and for Maria & Nini it took them just under an hour to complete the run. After all who wants to make the run tough, dirty & long when celebrating the 4th of July was even more important!

On-On

When we reached the base, Garth Brooks was already crooning from sT. BernarD’s stereo to the tune of Western Music while Oscar was readying the bar-b-q pit for some grilled chicken wings, fresh fish & squids. CIA Joe was busy smashing, kneading, squeezing the beef burger mixture to perfection & MIA Doug was flipping dexterously the roasted ‘thing’ with one hand while at the same time holding his beer with the other.
With case after case of beer lining on the right side of the car porch & the buffet table on the other, the atmosphere looked like a total bedlam from the outside. However once inside, you could feel the coziness of the place and with the oversized settee, which was big enough for two to crash on, one could just soak in the homey atmosphere of CIA Joe’s pad.
Later Alice served us red wine, beer & tidbits from Clint. Among the spread on the table were my spaghetti Alfredo, Alice veggie & drunken chicken and from time to time a refill of chicken bar-b-q. There were so many official testers that before Oscar could put down the platter of chicken bar-b-q it was already snapped.

What more when the buffet table was officially opened, all the hungry hashers went ballistic with their spoons in killing the food. In seconds as if an angel of death passed by and everyone seemed quiet as all mouths were busy munching their food. That’s what we call hash!

While waiting for MIA Doug to burn his meat, GM roped us in for the circle. The Hares S-TripP3r, Alice and CIA Joe our host were the first one to do the down-down for the ungrateful GM after feeding him with great food. Later MIA Doug was also forced to do the down-down and had to sing the Star-Sprangled Banner as a tribute to CIA Joe. More & more guests were also ‘appreciated’ with a down-down, until the last guests of CIA Joe did their stuff. Later we burned the floor with equally exhilarating cowboy dance with sT. BernarD & $Bunny Maria. We left Paul & friends downing more beer after beer at Joe’s place until the last tin of beer were gone. To make the record straight I hid almost a case of beer just to force them to go home.

From the feedbacks we received, it was a very successful party and everyone had a great time. On-On!!!
