PTH2 Run 18Oct2009

Penampang Tua Paau Hash House 18 October 2009
Runsite: Kg. Maang, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

For the run outside the city parameter of Kota Kinabalu, Kg. Maang along Penampang-Papar old road would seem to be a long drive considering d’Wanderers had just driven about 2hrs from Ranau following an overnight escapade with the K2H2 Bunnies.

However, PTH2 members were really serious about hashing ‘coz their vehicles were already lining up the whole stretch of the road. It was exceptionally hot & dry evening even tho’ dark clouds were hovering all over the Kota Kinabalu. And by the look of it, the heavens would just open up its floodgate but that didn’t happen at all. By 4pm I saw d’Wanderers slowly moved across the street & wandered into some private dirt road. Few more early starters followed them from behind then without hesitation Charming Cock (Kok Chan Ming) tugged me towards them which I happily acquiesced the subtle prodding.

Reaching the foot of the hill, we climbed the well-trodden path slowly as it was going between 60-70degrees slope. When I reached the top, Wanderer was still loitering around then I decided to go for short run as well. We took advantage of the slope going down and sped up a little as we followed the track further down to a ravine. From there we went crabbing along the skirt of the same hill—a definitely Sotong signature run where on few occasion I could hear Wanderer’s “Ouch!” as she yanked her heavily-gloved hands from the thorny branches.

Sometimes, the trail passed thru’ a firm ledges but most often we had to grab trees, roots or even uprooted grass just to balance ourselves while manoeuvering some tricky parts. From the distance, we could hear sound of chainsaw cutting woods somewhere down the other hill, but due to the density of the jungle, I couldn’t really pinpoint which hill was that.

Then the trail crossed another ravine which brought us farther away from the base, but the humming sound of the chainsaw was still audible. By the time we set foot on the firmer ground, I just realized we were already on the other hill which was equally dense and also infested with giant thorny vines. Since we had to go up at 60deg angle, there was no way clearing the trail without entangling with the wayward vines. The challenge was untangling yourselves from the thorns that caught your shirts & pants. At least Wanderer was fully equipped with thick gloves & walking stick where she could just pin the vines to her side. Some more energetic young ones overtook us as we made our way around the hill.

As we climbed further up, the vegetation shifted from dangling vines & distorted trees to sea of ferns. I saw few types of ferns but it was the giant ferns that caught my attention, ‘coz one particular tree stand to about 15mtrs high. At the open space where the cross-point for long & short run was conspicuously marked, we ran into few guys, who took advantage of the slope to rest. The long run would have continued down to the foot of the hill then would take them up again to reach the ridge of the next hill.

For d’Wanderers & I, we followed the shorter trail & continued going up to the hill that linked to the exit. The terrain was deceptive as it looked that when I reckoned a shorter way out; it was just the start of along winding trail around the hill. True enough it was still a long walk or run even in late evening and with humidity that deprived us of needed oxygen, I myself was already soaked with my own sweat. By the time I reached the topmost part of the hill, I already finished my drinks but at least it gave me ample time to rest until d’Wanderers emerged fully exhausted from the jungle. Can you imagine a scenario that even when you’re on top of the hill, the leaves of the trees were not moving at all—no breeze; everything just stand still.

As we descend following the open dirt road, we finally saw the cross which had been our landmark along this area. I was more interested in having a swirl around it for another pole-dancing on the hill & I was sure Mr. Wanderer would have taken the pole as well. Yeah, we still had not recovered from the pole dancing we had with the K2H2 Bunnies last Saturday night. MFH3 GM Uncle Lee overtook us around that area and just ran down with ease as more and more homing FRB’s passed us. It took us over an hour to finish the run, which to my calculation was a decent time had it not for the dry weather. On-On

K2H2 Bunnies Deepavali Run

K2H2 BUNNIES DEEPAVALI RUN AT KG. LUANTI BARU, RANAU, SABAH, MALAYSIA
SATURDAY, 17OCT2009

It was a fun-filled out-station run organized by the Ex-Co of the K2H2 Bunnies. The highlight of the run was an opportunity to swim with flesh-sucking carps-literally suck off anything dangling from your body. Not much booze to go around, but had wonderful time dancing on the pole with equally sexy Bunnies.

K2H4 RUN1746 11Sept09

K2H4 Run1746 11Sept09 Kg. Dambai Off Kionsom Rd., Inanam
==========================================
Tucked inside Kg. Dambai about 1km off Kionsom Rd, the run-site was a secret enclave known only to K2H4 as the property belongs to On-Sex Ricky Lee’ uncle. Parking space was very limited but somehow every car seemed to had been parked neatly. Exactly 5pm GM Simon Tsen flagged us off towards the hill that acted as natural fence for the property. I was trailing behind Teddy Bear then later broke off from the group and jogged towards the dirt-road up to a small hill.

Haze was still not contained as it seemed to envelope the heavens and hopefully heavy rain would help to clear the sky. There were already FRB’s & ESB’s down the valley when I hit the open field on top of that hill. The whole stretch of the valley had been cleared either just to collect the earth for filling or to build a big hotel in that property. Anyway, the distance to reach the other side of the hill was about 1km and I just wonder how the hare manage to cross to the other side under the heat of the sun. Passing more ESB’s, I was now running side by side with William & Marboro while AhKaw decided to take it slowly.

Going inside the bushes and crawling under the ornate twisted vines & thorns, I was able to catch up with nt-Bernadette & Robert as they used all parts of their body to reach the top of the ridge. I also used both feet to balance on the huge vine while clinging to the firm tree on top of me at the same time grabbed any protruding roots to anchor my weight. One needed dexterous hands & limber body to squeeze into the crevice, otherwise thorns from wayward rattan vine & spiky palm trees could easily nip you. Once that hurdle was cleared, it was a continuous climb for the next 100mtrs.

While the intermittent terraces along the skirt of the hill gave us short reprieve, it was nevertheless steep. I thought when we hit the open space, it would be a long run going down, instead the paper continued to bring us farther up. I lost tract of the vegetation but it seemed, we were running inside the rubber plantation then out again to fern-infested hillock. Another 20mtrs up and we were out of the open, this time it was really the summit of the hill where the ridge was flat and had a good terrain for running.

Taking advantage of the flat ground on top of the ridge, I was able to overtake Steven & Dreamy Eyes. And just before the slope started to descend I passed by Ben-G walking alone. It was a good run down as well eventho’ the slope wasn’t even. We just passed that killer hill, but it wasn’t really challenging. After negotiating short curves plus a bit of skipping here & there, I could hear already murmuring from the house below. Soon enough, I was out but was surprise to see those people I overtook earlier on was already sipping coffee, while others were already into a couple of deals with playing cards.

Later on I found out there was a shorter way to go down from the first part of the hill before going into the fern area. No wonder nt-Bernadette & Robert were already sitting down munching some tidbits. It took me less than 30mins to finish the run. Hopefully next run would be tougher than this run. ON-ON!!!

K2H2 BUNNIES RUN2049 09-09-09

Run2049 09 September 2009
Hare : Anti-Vietnam Rose Co-Hare: Julieh Scribe: HaShiT
Run-site/On-On: Gaya Seafood Rest, Inanam
=======================================
Though we could here thunder every now & then plus the presence of haze from the perennial forest fire in Kalimantan, Borneo, the heavens didn’t open its gate to douse us with rain. Instead the weather still remained humid and hot.
When I got myself a nice Bunny towel from the Hare Anti-Vietnam Rose after registering with $Bunny, the horn was blown and everyone marched in group towards the opposite side of the road. Did I say group? Well, there was Kuai-Lo group, Chinese-speaking group, money-talking group and the doctor-patients group, the not forgetting the Early-Starting-Bitches group. And every Bunny seemed to just fit to any of these groups.

I saw Terry “AhFook” & Michael “German Sausage” broke away from their group to lead the pack running towards the kampong. When I reached the junction going up the hill, AhFook & G-Sausage made a u-turn as they couldn’t find the Bunnies’ holey papers. Unfortunately, another group—the children group from the house we passed by earlier picked up the papers. So Boss Bunny, now you know why S-TriPp3R had to run twice every time—it’s to ensure that the run wouldn’t be spoiled rain or shine.

After directing all of them to the correct trail, I made my way up ahead of the Laughing (who volunteered to be the bobtail for Lam-Soo). I still managed to catch up with a few Bunnies as they were passing by the edge of the stream lined with gravity water-hose snaking along the trail. Tho’ the urge to run fast was over-powering, the temptation just to be surrounded by beautiful Bunnies just made one step unbearable. What more if you have Boss Bunny “Pretty Woman” around together with an entourage of other equally beautiful specimen. I thought when G-Sausage made his 2nd round and caught up with us just before we made our descent, he would stick around the Boss and her cohorts. However he just continued bulldozing his way down & really defeated the purpose of joining the Bunnies run.

Anyway, I chose to stay behind which proved to be a right choice, ‘coz Flipper felt weak & had to reverse. So Datuk AhDuh volunteered to bring her back, and $Bunny also followed (either she didn’t trust AhDuh with fainting Flipper walking down the hill, or she could also pretend to faint so that AhDuh could serve them both) Whatever the reason, from his devilish grin, I found out later AhDuh was very happy to be of ‘service’ to the Bunnies!

This was the same trail that I laid for Puan Babi 2 Wednesdays ago, where a lot of Bunnies didn’t finish the run. This time to make sure no more blunder in the jungle, co-Hare Julieh put a lot of papers to mark the trail. Just before we could continue going farther up, the trail verged to the left then brought us walking along the skirt of the same hill then climb to the adjacent hill. It didn’t rain that day, so the slope going up was manageable even for Boss Bunny with her ceaseless moaning.

Avoiding more hanging vines and thorns as well slippery rock, we finally reached the cross line to the exit towards our right. It was a familiar trail and a favourite trail of our late Tai Kor for it could lead to three exits—all especially designed for the Bunnies. The open field which was supposedly another housing estate is now sea of green with tall bushes and the pathway seemed to be covered with fallen trees. The last part of the ridge was just a continuous slope down to the main road again. For FRB’s the run was just under 30mins, that’s why AhFook & G-Sausage could run another round.

PTH2 Run 06Sept09

======================
Run-Site End Of Tanaki

I guess the only way to get myself fit for the 12th Borneo Nash Hash trial run next Sunday is to do another intensive hashing this week starting with PTH2. Three days of hashing with K2H2 Bunnies on Wednesday, K2H4 on Friday & MH2 on Saturday was enough drilling to be fit that Sunday run with PTH2.
When we reached the run-site towards the end of Tanaki, there were cars after cars lining up both sides of the road and Wanderer just managed to squeeze in her ‘Kembara’ behind a big pick-up. While still waiting for the flag-off time, AhFook came in on convoy with Rumpf-push. Wanderer & I were quite worried when he showed up with puncture right hand whose blood though dried up was still crimson red. Ahfook with his chauvinistic defiant refused to put something to cover it, nevertheless we managed to persuade him to put band-aid where he then wrapped towel around it. Mr. Wanderer was hoping that Rumpf-push would look after Wanderer (or was it vice-versa?) since he was doing the long run.
By 3.45pm Wanderer & Rumpf-push made their way towards the hanging bridge then followed the other ESB’s to cross a ravine towards the hill. We went in around 4.10pm and managed to catch up with few energetic young men making their way towards the foot of the hill. There we also managed to catch up with Wanderer and Rumpf-push as they struggled to clear the first hurdle on that small hill. When we reached the top, there were these two ladies who short-cut from the dirt-road taking their time to follow the pack from behind.
Then the trail took an abrupt dive into the ravine which was about the same height we climbed earlier plus another 20mtrs down as we ended up running along the coastal line of the river. The rippling sound of the river was so inviting under the early evening sun, but then Mr. Wanderer was on my heels as if signaling me not to slow down.
The next part was an assault to the biggest hill and I was able to overtake a few ESB’s even with a slope ranging between 40 & 60deg. However instead of taking us straight up, the papers brought us crawling along the skirt of the hill then dived again into an abyss. From there the paper took us up only to be diverted to our right where we ended up on the hill that marked the short & the long run. At that junction, I lost Mr. Wanderer and waited for him to emerge from the side of the hill. Those slower ones I overtook earlier were beginning to march in one by one, but still no sight of Mr. Wanderer, which made me wonder, what had happened to him. One logical explanation was that Wander might be hollering at him or wandered somewhere the short cut trail. Anyway while soaked with my own sweat now, I waited for him on a promontory edge of the hill so that I could easily spot him. Finally he sprung from the other side of the hill with AhFook in hot pursuit behind him and announced between breathing that he was doing the short run.
By that time most of the FRB’s had already gone down to the ravine and so I doubled my time hoping I’d be able to catch up with any living soul. When I started to run up again, I could still hear hashers singing “On-On” on the other side of the hill, which meant that if I didn’t go down, I would still cross the same continuing trail from that ridge. As I verged farther more to the right, the sound was getting fainter until it was drowned by the cascading water at the ravine below. Following the papers down, I must have crossed four tributaries with equally raging water cascading down.
For the next few hills I was running alone but it was still very bright until I reached the last ledge of the fourth hill where I saw one soul struggling even to lift up his foot. It was on that hill I caught up with Angkut who was already exhausted and took time to rest once in a while. With the last few meters up, I was able to reach the zenith of the hill and the temptation of running down was so great that I overtook three more FRB’s.
There was no more uphill trail so it was easy to catch up with few FRB’s even before I reached the cross-point again. In just few minutes I was back at the foot of the hill and caught up with the Wanderers & Rumpf-push taking their time as to finish the run. Passing the same river as it snaked its way around the hillock and culminated on the bigger stream which now swelled into beautiful waterfall, the papers took us up again to cut the trail nearer to the base.
I was quite satisfied with my time and was ready for this Sunday Ball-Breaker trial run. On-On!!!

MFH3 RUN 112 05 SEPT 09

MFH3 Run112 on 5th September 2009
Hares: Darine & Abang Hin at Kg. Inobong Off Tambunan Road, Sabah

=====================
Arriving at the run-site with “The Wanderers”, our car was the 2nd one to park in a dark & dung-infested lot. The Hares Darine & Abang Hin were just readying the place from lightings to table setting. Soon Oscar ‘Osakai” Chai came in loaded with all sort of paraphernalia in his ever-ready 4WD and later enliven the whole Community Centre with his modified lightings. More and more ‘Moonies’ arrived all equipped with torchlight/headlight just to make sure safe rampage into the night safari.

By 7.30pm, GM Uncle Lee flagged-off the run and made our way to the left of kampong road crossing a long hanging bridge. When we reached the other side of the river, a lone dog welcomed us with his excited howling adding to the quaintness of Full Moon run. It was hot & humid despite jungle surroundings and the moon was still blocked by evening clouds, so all torch lights were flickering like fireflies fluttering from tree to tree.

Leading the pack was Lo Bak, CiA Joe & Mr. Wanderer while most of us were patiently trailing from behind waiting for occasional song of “On-On!” or whatever moaning sound they could come up. The first part of the trail was just a slow walk along the side of the hill passing a private orchard. Then we continued to go up further under the canopy of rubber trees. On top of the ridge, the trail was combination of steep ledges and open fields but well-marked with Abang Hin’s signature shredded papers.

Still going up, the paper brought to a recently cleared trail as if a virgin trail was been, had it not for the rubber trees that showed a recent cut for milking the sap. Definitely it wasn’t our hare Abang Hin who had cleared the vegetation along the trail. The trail was still going up and later Uncle Lee caught up with us then led us to a steeper track. Thinking it was still on a vertical trail, GM Uncle Lee led the pack up some more together with Ho Bak & CIA Joe only to find out there was no paper and everyone came to a standstill while some went to different directions to search for the papers. It was at that junction when CIA accidentally tripped one of the rocks and slammed onto Ho Bak’s legs, which later turned purplish-blue. Of course that earned CIA Joe a boo plus a Down-Down at least he could have just shoiut on top of his lungs “Rock!”.

Since I was behind together with Wanderer & Margaret, I back tract a few steps and found the trail verging towards the left but still on a vertical slope. However I could hear, GM singing “On-On!” somewhere up the trees, or up the hill. Finally when I cleared the last hurdle, I can see a cleared path up the trail.

Onto a recently bulldozed off-track road on top of the hill, GM Uncle Lee, “Mr. Wanderer & I waited for most of the “Moonies” to emerge from the jungle with few of them still letting out those moaning, whining sound of fatigue, exhilaration or relief. Though we were out in the open, we still left our torchlight on as the moon seemed to be blurred this time due to the recent forest fire in the Kalimantan region of South-Eastern Borneo.

It seemed that junction grouped us again then I continued to run up hill following the dirt road that led down to the foot of the hill. After a few ups and down the papers led us to the left up to highest point of the hill, where a lone Sabah flag was left flying.

From there it was another 15mins running down the side of the hill with wide terrain as if designed for running especially when you have the track on your own. Stopping once in a while on wooden bars which was meant to keep straying buffaloes at bay, the run was just another minutes away from the base.

For FRB’s it was only 45mins run and the last person to come out made it in just under an hour. On-On

K2H4 RUN1247 04Sept09

K2H4 Run1745 04Sept0 End Of Kionsom, Inanam
==========================================
It’s easy to spot the run-sites of every hash chapter in Kota Kinabalu as there are always big signboards planted along the road, especially on Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays when there are few hash chapters running at the same time. On few occasions the trails crisscrossed but every hasher knew which trail belongs to whom with the type of papers being laid. Driving along Kionsom road, we spotted Api-Api Hash House (A2H2) signage planted conspicuously on both sides of the road just next to newly completed housing estate.

After registering with On-Cash Lilian Chin, I waited for few minutes for Fansoo to fix his hashing gear then we joined the pack as they were already running towards the hill across the road. Once we cleared the kampong houses, the trail immediately turned almost vertical toward the biggest hill in the area. Actually once you reach the top of that hill it was easy to get yourself lost as there are few exit points to divert your way; and one trail could end you on top of Kionsom waterfall.

Anyway, with that slope, it caused a massive ‘traffic’ jam as hashers after hashers either didn’t bother to move due to fatigue or just hang on to the trees along the way. However, Fansoo & I continued the assault at a rather faster pace where we overtook a lot of ESB’s. Altho’ still going up, the trail verged toward the left which would lead us to another tough trail.

By that time, even those senior hashers who usually start 15mins earlier were also grasping for breath and just a ledge above a few of the ladies also slowed down. Soon it was only Fansoo & I leading the pack up the hill. Without anymore slower ones blocking our way, it took us just another 15mins to clear the ‘killer’ hill and we were on the way running down.

The early evening rain kept the weather cooler especially inside the rubber plantation where most of the trails are done. I think it was Ricky Lee who was the consultant that evening, since I saw him earlier just relaxing with beer on one hand and a cigar dangling on the other. Anyway, I took advantage of the slope down and kept running. Fansoo decided to take it nice & easy as he reckoned our running time was way ahead of schedule.

Following the paper down it wasn’t really a smooth trail as there were tree roots anchoring the steps and you could easily trip and tumble down especially those roots protruding among mossy rocks or those covered by dried leaves. So taking no chance, I tried to run alongside the trail on the path where the there were still grass or bushes standing. In just about 25mins or so, I was already on the covered walk-way of the kampong then continued running down the road from the last ledge of the hill.

From that vantage view, I could see our cars and few Short Cutting Bastards (SCB’s) already having their drinks. Farther to my right, few kampong children were playing ‘sepak takraw’ and since it was Ramadhan month, there were stalls selling just anything for ‘buka-puasa’. For fast runners, it took us only 45mins to finish that type of trail. Another wonderful day is gone running in the jungle. On-On

K22H2 BUNNIES RUN2048 02Sept09

Run2048 02 September 2009
Hare : Swinging Hips Co-Hare: Julieh Scribe:
Run-site: Kionsom Rd, Inanam On-On: Gaya Seafood Rest
=========================================================
The weather wasn’t on Jane’s side as it was raining cats & dogs even when we reached the run-site which was at the junction to the old Kionsom Road. Normally there would be a lot of old Bunnies following the co-hare in setting the run, but this time the only Bunny who finished the run was Ah May. She herself trailed us from behind as she was also dragging along a bull named David Chee-something and her grandson. Not only did the weather discouraged a lot of Bunnies to run that evening, that week was also the start of Chinese ghost month and with gloomy weather like that even intrepid bunnies like Dreamy Eyes, Wanderer, $Bunny, sT. BerNarD & Lauhing shied away from bashing inside the wet & slippery jungle.

For German Sausage’s analogy, it the best moment to go in when wet & slippery so that can come out fast! Mr. Wanderer also decided to give the run a pass saying at that moment he felt “too old to play” in the rain. We could only count the number of diehards (rain or shine) to be at the run-site and amazingly Irene “Sergeant” George was also present thru’ the Samaritan’s spirit of The Wanderers.

Reckoning that it would be a very short run to set, co-Hare Julieh & I went in around 4pm under dark sky with rain water cascading on every fissures, cracks & canals washing away rubbish & debris along the path including buffalo dung. Following the paper to the bushes, we crossed a small stream to start the climb up. For the next 10mins it was the same slope up until we reached a flattened ridge, where we could run a little just to beat the time. Circling an abandoned pineapple orchard, we went inside the rubber tree plantation that you can still see fresh cutting around the trunk to milk the sap.

As it started to get steeper, more rubber trees could be seen being cleared then we had to cross another stream then up to a more slippery slopes. Another stream to cross we were already near the vicinity of the hi-way. After clearing the last hill, we came upon another stream that led out to the main Kionsom hi-way.

In my 2nd round when I ran with German Sausage, the streams I passed earlier morphed into a swelling river with the last one turning into a magnificent waterfall. With German Sausage now running with me, I really pushed myself to the limit even going up-hill. On few bends, we took advantage of the flattened ridge where we ran double-time to make up for the time we lost going up. Had it not rained that heavy, I would have brought my camera to take great shots of the water running down from slopes to slopes (Tracy, you missed this nature’s wonder).

In one area, as if the rain was very heavy up-hill , ‘coz water was just pouring down from every direction, everywhere you look up, there was always water coming down at you. That was another reason why German Sausage & I ran very fast to avoid untoward incident inside the jungle. Worst scenario was when you’d be caught in massive landslide in between the hills or while negotiating a ravine. Even the last ravine we passed, the rocks which were usually planted firmly, were getting looser due to heavy rain.

I had a good cleansing in the last ‘river’ while German Sausage continued running toward the base. For him, it was only 25mins run despite the slippery terrain and precarious slopes. Julieh being the bobtail on behalf of Anti-Vietman Rose managed to finish the run again in 45mins. The last one to come out was Fansoo also clocking almost like us with all sort of ghost running with him. He ran fast not because of the imminent danger from flash-flood or landslide but from the ghost who followed him all the way from the start despite having been offered with sweets. So Fansoo, you learned your lesson; always run in group. At the last count only 6Batang & 1see-ham plus 1ah-chai finished the run.

KOTA KINABALU HASH HOUSE BUNNIES

Run2047 26 August 2009
Hare : Jane Bacon Co-Hare: S-TripP3R
Runsite/On-On: Gaya Seafood Restaurant Scribe: BuLLShiT 4 Emily

==================================================================
Thought this run was just another mundane Wednesday evening--hashing in a boring runsite with almost every angle of the jungle had been ‘de-virginized’ by all know hash chapters in Kota Kinabalu. However the pouring rain took the run in disarray with so many trails having been re-laid. The advantage of setting the run is that you can assess the approximate distance even without having toys like Tracy or Mr. Wanderer is using, that in the event you have to go in to rescue some stranded or loss hashers, you know exactly where the divergent trail starts.

Just before “Orang Kuat” blew the horn, heavy downpour already caused massive flooding at the parking area as water from the main hi-way started to rush into the car park. Crossing to the opposite side under heavy downpour, we followed the kampong road which was already underwater caused by over-flowing canal that ran along its side. Then the trail diverted to an open field crossing a bamboo bridge towards the house on top the hillock with equally excited dogs barking at us.

Soon we were running along the barb-wired parameter fence of the workshop down the valley. Every step was a calculated move as the spiky wire might snitch our arms or legs, worst is if you fall onto the fence itself. In fact in one of the runs, Wanderer accidentally kicked the barb-wire which was used to anchor the fence and heavy rain also washed away the Bunnies holey papers that we decked along the perilous part of the fence.

I thought I could go back and take photos at the beautiful scenery along the flood canal but then it was impossible under heavy rain. Slippery and dangerous as it was with water starting to build up as it rushed down, one can only marvel how a once still creek could turn turbulent and alive in just few hours after the rain.

From there we started our assault up the hill and our ordinary kampong ‘Adidas’ shoes were really functional with its rubbery studs digging firmly into the soft earth, thus giving us good thrust up the hill. Following the skirt of the hill, we came down again into the ravine then continued up to a more challenging slopes. That was the junction where the mess took an ugly turn. Apparently the ESB’s who followed from behind the co-Hare earlier while setting the run, picked up the papers and re-laid their own run to follow the trail of K2H4 which would then led them farther up. Those irresponsible bastards didn’t even bother retraced their trail eventho’ they didn’t have any more paper to re-lay. They just continued to follow the K2H4 trail out. With this, S-TriPp3r made an official complaint to K2H2 Ex-Co that in the event of Bunnies getting loss in the jungle as the result of trail being messed up, he wouldn’t go into the jungle to rescue them if he were the co-Hare on that day, unless they the resolve this matter!

The actual trail was a straight forward track up the hill then out to the open field where the two-pronged trail could be used as exit to the base. Anyway following the papers to the open field it continued to bring us down the hill again amidst wayward sharp reeds and bushy ‘shiggies’. I waited for the bobtail ‘Julieh’ to pass that hill where the mess was, until I felt chilly cold waiting inside the jungle under heavy rain then decided to continue running down. By the time I passed the canal to the main road, it was already up to my waist. When I reached the based, our bobtail had already taken his shower while the others were happily seated for the On-On. ‘Julieh’ who also joined me earlier to set the run was himself lost along with bobtail ‘Botak Tay’ & datuk AhDuh.

PTH2 RUN ON 23Aug09

On two occasions that I hashed with Penampang Tua Pa’au Hash House, the venue shifted from their usual territory in Penampang and intruded into Inanam vast hashing space. Humidity was quite dense as evidenced by our sweating bodies even before we could start the run. While still lingering around to wait for “Dirty Gerty” to arrive, somebody just yelled “On-On!”
The climb started just immediately across the registration kiosk with slope between 45 to 60 degrees. There were slower ones blocking us that caused heavy “traffic jam” but somehow those intrepid hashers just cleared a few trees, swung from left to right, grabbed protruding roots then hauled themselves up. For the slower ones it was long & arduous trek up the hill with barely enough twigs, trees, vines or roots to hold onto.
Cherry-Anne was behind me when we reached the first ridge then diverted to the right only to be taken up to the next part of the ridge. After negotiating a few rocky flood-path, we were already at the crossroad of short & long run. Cherry-Anne hesitated for a while, ‘coz she knew when we started, the hare wasn’t out yet for almost 4hrs inside the jungle. With proper prodding, she finally decided to join us and by that time Tracy was way ahead of us.
Surprisingly the next bend was a run down into streams that, feeds water into another tributaries of the main Kionsom River. Passing an isolated house down the valley, the paper continued to snake into another kampong houses with equally energetic children playing around. Soon we were at the start of another real climb which was becoming torturous even for season hashers like us. Decided to slow down to just keep Anne going at her own paces but somehow rather when we reached another farmer’s hut, we bumped into another ESB who was then resting by the tree.
The next climb was the killer one as we literally started from the bottom of the hill then scaled up to about 2km high. The first 100 yards was just an easy climb but as we gained heights, it got steeper and steeper that sometimes, Anne would just take advantage of few drooping tress to lean on and rest. The vegetation was not really dense as we were still inside the rubber trees plantation and the weather started to get cooler. From the distance, we could see Tracy now--inching her way up along cleared footpaths.
From that junction on, there were four of us struggling to reach the top along the seemingly unending steps to nowhere. Despite our pathetic condition, we could still sing “On-On” in between breath hoping we could hear someone in front of us or the bobtail behind us. Yet all we could hear were the heavy breathings which were most of the time muted by our heavily dragged footsteps. Then another energetic guy came along and overtook us and in few minutes he was gone. Finally Anne & that other guy also doubled their time and were gone.
With few more steps, Tracy finally reached the top of the ridge then it was a great relief when could finally run down the hill. There were no more souls in front of us so I decided to go faster which forced Tracy also to follow from behind, gabbing trees & hopping from steps to steps while simultaneously avoiding protruding roots and wayward thorny vines. As we went farther down, we could hear people murmuring or shouting ‘On-On’ at us then lose them again. I guess we’ve been running down the hill for the next 20mins when we bumped into Anne & her escort in the company of Oscar ‘Osakai’ Chai.
It seemed that the papers leading to exit point were all mixed up. Anyway with the presence of ‘Osakai’ I knew we were safe to get back to the base. We actually came out about 500mtrs down the road to the drink wagon, which according to Tracy was about 1.45mins running time. Well I could have clock better had I not opted to pace with Anne earlier. On-ON

K2H2 BUNNIES RUN2046

Run2046 19 August 2009
Hare : Emily Yapp Co-Hare: Teddy Bear
Runsite: Taman Golden Hill On-On: Vui Fook Restaurant

===============================================================
This site becomes a familiar venue to set the run due to its proximity to the city proper, ample parking space & still a lot of virgin trails yet to be discovered. I joined "Teddy Bear" with Hare Emily Yapp to set the run earlier, so I didn’t really witness where they set the registration table for $Bunny to chase us for money. Anyway when we came out of the bushes (like hidden dragon & crouching tiger for more than half an hour), the ESB’s were already long gone.

I managed to catch up with "Julieh", who stand for me as bobtail since, I back-tracked to re-lay some more paper on the way down. While I was clearing some bushes to make sure the trail was neat along the canal, Tracy was already behind me.
The trail actually started from the open field with a recently bulldozed section of the hill on the right. Towards the far left, there was another open field as well which I presumed to be another housing estate in the making. I was told Ivy’s run was also set there hence the confidence in Teddy Bear’s grin when he walked in leisurely at 3.35pm.
Passing the shitty trail (literally full of shit, tho’ we couldn’t see any of it littering around, we could smell it even just before we started our assault on the hill), we passed an abandoned or torn-down shack on the edge of the hill. From there we followed a foot-trail up the hill along the parameter fence of the huge water tank. Familiar to all of us the trail could have stopped on the road leading to the housing estate, but then the hare took us some more into the jungle with more climbing both up & down.
Weather was on Emily’s side so the terrain was fairly good, alto’ a good grip to any protruding roots or broken branches was needed to lower ourselves down. We passed another abandoned bungalow with half of its foundation at the back eroded then went up another ledge only to climb another hillock. However once we cleared that last hurdle, it was an easy run up the hill towards the radar station.
Once again we were passing the parameter fence of the station with equally exited dog singing at us. One more hill to clear, the paper took us to the highest point of Kepayan Ridge overlooking the Penampang area on our right & the airport towards the horizon on the left. The rock face was quite slippery, but there were cracks & fissures here and there to break our steps, thus making it easier for us to run down.
To make sure that the track was safe to run, our hare made us follow a u-turn trail along the base of one of the canals that linked to the exit. Once inside the jungle, it was just a matter of minutes before we reached the open field again.
With that type terrain, Tracy could easily clock under 30mins, while the bobtail "Julieh" together with "AhDuh" & his guest Jimmy came out almost an hour later after Boss Bunny "Pretty Woman", $Bunny, Kartini & Nini reached the drink wagon.
ON-ON!!!

MFH3 RUN111 0606RUN

MFH3 Run111 on 8th August 2009

There was nothing extra-ordinary about the run except it was a run in the housing estate even our Minister of Hares Abang Hin was not around to perform his duty which was delegated to Calvin “Kaulin” Chin with the help of Ng Boon Heng “Sotong” & Alice.
“Tayar” Leong’s house had a vantage point of the Nasoob Jaya housing estate with half of the space reserved for playground was cemented & converted into a private parking lot. GM Uncle Lee was not around to flag the run so Lawrence “Lolin” took the initiative to show the excited runners the starting point. I was the sweeper that night with the sole duty to clean up the litters done by the Hares & their gang, but then “Kaulin” & Alice forbade me from picking up the litter saying, “the area was dirty anyway.” Having shoved my civic- mindedness in the closet of my house, I just followed what they suggested which later cost me a “Down-Down” for not following the instruction agreed during the meeting.
Following the shredded papers out to the main hi-way (another mistake that “Kaulin” did for not sticking to the agreed condition of the run which was to go on opposite direction of the traffic), there were two MFH3 signage with 1 carved from cardboard with non-descript scribbles on it. It was an easy run for those who like jogging since there was no hill to conquer nor streams & ravine to cross. We didn’t realize how hazardous it was to run on the same flow of the traffic until one car swerved beside Alice while she was walking leisurely towards the junction of Eden Heights. Immediately she jumped to the grassy shoulder of the hi-way which was also poorly lighted.
From there Lim Joo Seng “d’Lost1” together with “Lolin” caught up with us then slowed down as we turned in towards the street of Eden Heights. Joseph Sim likewise overtook us just before we turned towards the base. For the FRB’s it was just under 20mins, so Joseph went for a 2nd round. Uncle Lee came in not to run but to drink an array of beer.

On-On

Since the run coincided with Mrs. Leong’s birthday, “Tayar” Leong purposely catered the food ranging from sweet sour fish to fried chicken & curry chicken. Prawn in veggie salad complemented the spread that night with mixed veggie & fried ‘popiah’. However the most popular dish of all was the ‘Tongkat-Ali’ soup from Foo Ping known for awakening sleeping/slipping libido. There was also a platter-full of cut-fruits for dessert. Of course like any other run, there was a free-flow of beer—& was too inebriate to count the types of beer to down.
When it was time for the Hash-Circle, GM Uncle Lee had that devilish smile of coercing the Hares “Tayar” Leong & Paul Wong along with the co-hares like “Kaulin”, “Sotong” & Alice. The next in line were the guests like To Bak from Tawau Hash, Alice bf from Orang-Utan hash.
I’m still wondering until now why MIA Douglas Squareball was roped in to do the down-down. Anyway, GM Uncle Lee when he says you do the Down-Down, oyu do the Down-Down. The no-cow run group were the next one to be penalized with the same sinister smile from GM Uncle Lee as there were a big group of them. The hollering voice of Uncle Lee plus the drunken scream of To Bak attracted the passing police car and told us that the level of our noise had become nuisance to the neighbourhood. Iy was easy to appease the patrol car with few Isomax & packet drinks from “Lolin” not as a bribe but as token of “hormat”.
As the excitement subsided, we were ushered to the buffet table again to celebrate the birthday of Mrs. Leong who happened to be married only about six months ago.

K2H2 BUNNIES RUN2044

Run2044 05 August 2009
Hare : Ngaiti-Ngaiti Co-Hare: Julieh
Runsite/On-On: Gaya Seafood Restaurant Scribe: S-TripP3r 4 Tai Ngo
==============================
We all agree that K2H2 Bunnies is the only hash chapter that would not get bored running in the same runsite again & again until the whole hill would crumble to the ground. After all the good runsite is quite far from the city & so the runsite revolves around Tanaki & Kionsom. A good turn up today with over 70 excited hashers congregating at the Gaya Seafood Restaurant where the venue for the this Wednesday run, but again how many only if these Bunnies would go inside the jungle? I saw that old (virgin???) bitch hovering at the table when she saw a spread of food that Ngaiti-Ngaiti put out & didn’t even bother to move away. That’s why I told Ngaiti-Ngaiti not to put the food out yet; I didn’t have a chance to eat her eggs boiled in herbal-tea.
Anyway when $Bunny blew the horn, the bloody ESB’s were already inching their way towards the kampong road across Gaya Seafood Restaurant & sooner they were gone. There were two guests, one virgin & the other one not-so-virgin from Johor Hash, who seemed to be enjoying the company of equally energetic Bunnies like, Jenny Ong.
For the next 10mins we were running on the road then the papers took us farther into the last boundary of the kampong where the actual climb to the hill began. We circum-navigated the skirt of the hill then immediately took us up to the bamboo groves. Some more climbing among sharp ‘lalangs’ & prickly ferns, but the slope was quite manageable. When we reached the ridge of the first hill, the paper took us down to an open field which then connected us to the bigger hill.
sT. Bernard was already moaning & panting for breath as she tried her best to finish the run in the company of Nini, Dreamy Eyes, Dorice, Juliet (not Julieh who was the co-hare & later acted as bobtail as well) & few other ladies.
Altho’ the 2nd part of the ridge was not really that high, nevertheless it took us a few minutes to scale it and what a relief it was for those Bunnies to see the usual trail down. After a short walk along the skirt of the hill, the papers took us down to the ravine. The trail was quite slippery eventho’ there was no rain earlier as it was littered with dried leaves and it almost resembled a hi-way. As the Bunnies gingerly went down, Traffic-Man Zaini, “d’Lost1” & Mr. Wanderer did the reverse hoping to meet Vic Vapourub along the way.
Traffic-Man however decided to go with the Bunnies down the trail again. Sooner later AhDuh who accompanied Julieh sweeping the way, was already behind us. Passing the barb-wired fence, we all came out just before nightfall. We still manage to catch up with Bridge-Breaker just before we cross the make-shift bridge down the valley. Good run Julieh, eventho there seemed to be no more virgin trail in that miserable hill.

ON-ON
While I was still having the last gulp of my Isomax drink, those pathetic Bunnies & theor co-horts were already seated at the table. No wonder nothing has been left for us—nothing left for those who finish the run. Three tables were set for the Bunnies but later an additional half table was opened for late comers. For appetizers, the Hare Liaw Kui Foong “Ngaiti-Ngaiti” served us picked radish & carrot, while Simple Simon dished out his famous appetizer, which is believed to be an aphrodisiac. After everybody settled down we were treated to a chicken feet (most Ang Moh would puke at that dish) then dishes of green veggie & tofu in-the-pot were served and immediately after that sweet & sour fish came in. After a long wait, the fried chicken was also served. To complete our meal we had jelly & cake for dessert. There was enough food and the damage was only RM10.00.
Christine ‘Bridge-Breaker’ Hardy would be leaving us for good—back to her place in New Zealand. As token of appreciation & good friendship, Boss Bunny Pretty Woman presented her a dirtily-signed T-shirt & a mug for achieving 170runs so far. So a down-down to the hare, the guests & Bridge-Breaker! A BIG THANK TO KUI FOONG FOR A NICE MEAL.

MFH3 RUN 110 4TH OF JULY RUN

It’s American Independence Day and what a novel way to celebrate it with the only American we know in our midst—Joseph “CIA Joe” Bianculli who hails from Chicago, USA. His pad was even decked with everything American from table cloth to trimmers on the doorway complete with Western music that reverberated thru’ the neighbourhood. The food was totally Western except for a surprise treat of ‘drunken chicken soup’ & omelette veggie brought by Alice.
We had a big turnout in terms of Hash attendance plus additional guests personally invited by our host CIA Joe to celebrate that auspicious day for him sans fireworks. With a big crowd like that, the car park spilled out to the shoulder of the hi-way parallel to his place.
By 7.00 pm GM Uncle Lee flag off the run which started from the entrance of the Golden Valley housing estate and snaked thru gated playground. Later we were out on the open field then took a sharp turn to the right toward the ridge of the hill. At that time the moon was not out yet only the eastern horizon seemed to be bright. In my experience during night time, even how fast you are, you tend to slow down to avoid spraining your ankles or get entwined in prickly vines let alone fall into deep hole, so everyone slowed down especially the part where we had to cross a few flood canals.
There were few FRB’s however, just overtook us and in seconds were gone into the thickets enveloped by the darkness. Later we emerged from the seemingly thick jungle out to an open field where the sky was already brightly hued. As we gained height, we couldn’t hear anymore the sound of passing cars from busy city hi-way, instead the cacophony of singing from chirping cicadas & mating crickets permeated thru’ the air.
Some of the Bunnies who joined us were Nini & Maria Lee, Lilian Chin & Chu Lee Nyet “Julieh” but Dolly “sT.BerNarD” Tsen decided to stay behind since she was in-charge of the music, while PTH2 GM Michael Chio & gf Cherry-Ann finished the run along with few guests from other hash chapters.
From the open field, it was another huff-puffing climb tho’ the slope was not at all very steep. Whether the ladies made a few stops to view at the scenery or were just trying to catch up their breath, either ways we were already half-way thru’. Passing by the parameter of the radar station, the paper took us some more to the highest point of the ridge then down to a flat open space. From there it was just an easy stroll back to the base.
For FRB’s the whole run was just be under 30mins and for Maria & Nini it took them just under an hour to complete the run. After all who wants to make the run tough, dirty & long when celebrating the 4th of July was even more important!

On-On

When we reached the base, Garth Brooks was already crooning from sT. BernarD’s stereo to the tune of Western Music while Oscar was readying the bar-b-q pit for some grilled chicken wings, fresh fish & squids. CIA Joe was busy smashing, kneading, squeezing the beef burger mixture to perfection & MIA Doug was flipping dexterously the roasted ‘thing’ with one hand while at the same time holding his beer with the other.
With case after case of beer lining on the right side of the car porch & the buffet table on the other, the atmosphere looked like a total bedlam from the outside. However once inside, you could feel the coziness of the place and with the oversized settee, which was big enough for two to crash on, one could just soak in the homey atmosphere of CIA Joe’s pad.
Later Alice served us red wine, beer & tidbits from Clint. Among the spread on the table were my spaghetti Alfredo, Alice veggie & drunken chicken and from time to time a refill of chicken bar-b-q. There were so many official testers that before Oscar could put down the platter of chicken bar-b-q it was already snapped.

What more when the buffet table was officially opened, all the hungry hashers went ballistic with their spoons in killing the food. In seconds as if an angel of death passed by and everyone seemed quiet as all mouths were busy munching their food. That’s what we call hash!

While waiting for MIA Doug to burn his meat, GM roped us in for the circle. The Hares S-TripP3r, Alice and CIA Joe our host were the first one to do the down-down for the ungrateful GM after feeding him with great food. Later MIA Doug was also forced to do the down-down and had to sing the Star-Sprangled Banner as a tribute to CIA Joe. More & more guests were also ‘appreciated’ with a down-down, until the last guests of CIA Joe did their stuff. Later we burned the floor with equally exhilarating cowboy dance with sT. BernarD & $Bunny Maria. We left Paul & friends downing more beer after beer at Joe’s place until the last tin of beer were gone. To make the record straight I hid almost a case of beer just to force them to go home.

From the feedbacks we received, it was a very successful party and everyone had a great time. On-On!!!

Penampang Tuapaau Hash House (PTH2)

RUN 26July2009 Sunday

++++++++++++++++++

Driving The Wanderers & me to the run site at Kg. Madsiang, Tambunan Road, Lim Joo Seng “d’Lost1” remarked that the best option at that time was a long nap, considering the dark horizon and a great lunch earlier. When we arrived at the run site, the expanse of the parking lot was already full and got a glimpse of Terry “AhFook” Dukeswho was still loitering around the ground. Apparently, gf Tracy went in for a head start hoping to be out before the heavy rain comes.
We started off with a brisk walk trailing behind Bill “Mr. Wanderer” Jamieson, whose gf Rina “Wanderer” was about 20 meters ahead of him in the company of Uncle Lee’s gf Michelle & her family. When we had to cross a shallow stream with unstable stones to step on, we still have to pass a mud path and there was no way to stay dry. From there the assault to the trail began which would take us to the ridge of the cross-point for the long & short runs.
Leaving “The Wanderers” & “D’Lost1” behind, I slowly followed Terry as he scaled the hill with shredded paper generously thrown along the way. I decided to pace with Terry as he started to overtake early starters until we reached the dense rubber plantation where our paces could shift from slow to fast depending on the terrain, but mostly we were on slower mode. From time to time, we took advantage of the a near-flat ground and double-up our time then shifted to slower gear again when we hit a steeper one. Most of the time we were grabbing vines, protruding roots and bushes to clear the side of the slippery hill then plunged into the ravine only to be led uphill again.
We came to an open space with inter-locking pathways from so many directions, yet the paper took us to another hill with a steeper slope and again we slowed down while at the same time catching for our breath. This time banter with Terry was becoming more & more irregular except warning for thorns, holes & loose stones. Earlier on “D’Lost1” told me he would do the long run and knowing his poor sense of direction, I couldn’t take chance for him to get lost in the jungle. Otherwise we would be stuck at the base waiting for him and God knows for how long. Moreover, I promised to take my family out for dinner so, I told Terry to carry on as I would wait for “D’Lost1” at the cross-point.
While Terry continued his assault to the dense foliage of the jungle overtaking more and more early starters, I took my time to climb the hill hoping to regain my stamina when I’d reach the cross-point. For the next 10mins, I was on my own walking with no more souls in front of me nor any sound of “On-On’ from the fore-runners. Finally I reached the cross-point on another shoulder of the ridge where a few hashers took advantage to take a rest while at the same time re-assessing whether or not to do the long run.
Mr. Wanderer was the first one to reach that cross-point and later “D’Lost1” emerged from the bamboo groves fully depleted of energy and right then I knew he was not in proper shape to do the long run. Checking the time with Mr. Wanderer, we were already walking for 40mins and I was already drenched with sweat. Then a gust of strong wind blew on us followed by heavy rain which made the trail even more challenging.
The short run cut through the left side and followed the trail along the skirt of the hill down to a ravine then go up the next hill. On the other hand, the long one diverted to the left snaking also along the rubber-tapper’s trail with a wider pathways that led to a gentle slope up the hill. Since I opted to do the long run, I was on my own again and the surroundings seemed creepy as it was also dark inside the jungle. As I gained my momentum, I started running uphill, ducking on few uprooted trees and falling branches at the same time crawling underneath giant ferns. There seemed to be no ending of the upward trail even when I came out to an open space again. The hill was really high but manageable with light breeze blowing at my face. Passing more and more big trees, it was really evident that it was a primary jungle and the hares had to cut their way out to connect to the next hill.
Then the trail shifted to the right which would then converge toward the exit trail of the short run. Though it looked like a downhill trail, it wasn’t any easy run, ‘coz all the way I had to grab saplings, trees and even thorny vines to break my fall. Slipped a lot times and landed on my bumps a few times, I had no choice but to slow down. While still struggling to swing to the next mound, Uncle Lee caught up with me. From time to time he would suggest the best possible way to go down in the midst of slippery rocks, thorny palm trees whose thorns at the base could grow up to 2ins. At least at that time I wasn’t running alone anymore. Mountain Goat also caught up with us as he effortlessly skipped from rocks to rocks then disappeared into the thickets.
After running for another 15mins, we finally reached the kampong house with well-stocked fishponds. Then off to the gravel road, Uncle Lee & I continued running at a more regular pace slowing down only when we reached the stream. Back at the base, The Wanderers, “D’Lost1” & the Dukes were already fully rested and of course had cleaned-up!It took me almost 2 hours to finish the run; not a good time though. According to Mr. Wanderer two weeks from now, they will run the alternate long trail designed for the 12th BNH. On-ON!

Penampang Tuapaau Hash House (PTH2)

Run site: Tenaki, Penampang, Sabah

18July2009

==========================

While I was waiting for Vicky ‘Vic Vapourub & her bf Lim Joo Seng “D’Lost1”, The Wanderers (Bill & Rina Jamiesons) decided to make an early start at around 4pm by crossing the hanging bridge towards the school compound. 10mins later, the Lims joined me to follow the packs as we made our way to the foot of the hill. The weather started to change from bright sunny day to a gloomy dark afternoon.
The first hill had a graduated slope and Vic Vapourub had no problem maneuvering the winding trail but as we gained height, the trail started getting steeper & steeper. Soon FRB’s after FRB’s started to overtake us even on slippery trail just as we also overtook the slower ones. When we reached an open space, Terry ‘AhFook’ Dukes joined the other FRB’s rampaging down into the ravine.
From the ravine, the paper took us to another hill that seemed to be winding around its side making it look like it was just an easy run. Sure enough after puffing for breath for about 20mins, we were at the crossroad between the long & the short run and Mr. Wanderer was patiently waiting for us while Wanderer opted for a shorter trail. The shorter trail just followed the rubber tapper’s pathways as it wind thru’ a labyrinth of rubber trees.
Checking the time, it was already 4.40pm and the sky started to get dark, yet Vic Vapourub still chose to go for the long run. From the junction, the trail had a steeper drop on a series of terrace-like tracks. Following the paper down our paces could go at full speed or slower leisure walk at the same time balancing our steps on roots, loose rock & vines. While trying to lower ourselves down, Vic Vapourub was almost hit by a falling rock which the bastard from the top uprooted it. He should have called “Stone!” or something to warn the people below. A few minutes later another rock whizzed pass me, but it was too fast to shout and it hit the leg of “D’Lost1”. Again that other bastard didn’t make a warning sound, nor did he apologize to “D’Lost1” even when I was making a remark about his insensitivity.
From the ravine it was another climb up, by that time the wind started to blow and I kept of prodding “D’Lost1” to go faster. Sooner it started to rain and we could hear the rain on top of us, but since we were under the canopy of thick jungle, we hardly get wet. It was a slow climb up but because of the weather, we tried push our limits. Just before we reached the trig-point, strong wind came and that worried us even more, as it seemed to break all dead trees and uprooted some. We could hear branches after branches kept crushing down and by the time we stopped at the trig-point another ‘kuilau’ came by.
From there it was a long way run towards the base. Yes, the slippery trail made it longer for us to reach home. Vic Vapourub & Mr. Wanderer took advantage of the slope and just ran down and in minutes they were gone. We were still struggling going down the slippery trail when few FRB’s overtook us. Soon we were already on the trail that linked to the exit of the shorter version of the run. All the while, I was with “D’Lost1” hoping that he wouldn’t lose his way and together with Will, we slid down using our bumps or tumbled down into the ferns at the same time grabbing whatever stand on our way even thorny branches. While "D'Lost1" just recovered from another fall, Uncle Lee GM of Moyog Fullmoon H3 also slipped and landed on his bumps with crotch almost got stuck on protruding tree but in minutes he was also gone.
Finally we reached the bottom of the hill and had a chance to wash our bumps on the river. Upon checking with bill, they reached the base around 6.05pm and most probably it took us almost 2½ hrs to finish the run. Apart from the dangerous falling rocks, it was a very good run.
ON-ON.

K2H2 Run 2040

Run2040 08 July 2009 Co-Hare: "Julieh"
Runsite: Chinese Temple Scribe: BullShit 4 Lilian
==================================================
A good turn up today with over 70 excited hashers congregating at the temple ground for another Bunnies run. Among the 70 odd people at least 40% went inside to have a taste of Co-Hare Julieh’s another signature run—just catered for the Bunnies. Guest runner from Bangladesh Juned a.k.a “Rail-Jerker” together with his wife & another senior lady who was with $Bunny all the way survived that wonderful run.
10mins before the horn was blown, a pack of ESB’s (Early Starting Bastards) led by the Hiew Family were already inside the jungle to the amazement of S-Tripper. Even with FRB’s like Fansoo, Ah Fook & S-Tripper, they only managed to overtake them when they hit the ravine just before the last hill to go out!
The trail started from the left side of the temple up on an earth ledge which was covered with ashes and dead leaves as an aftermath from the recent bush fire. It used to be greener with thick foliage from the top of the hill to the bottom, but that day, the whole hill was bare & parched brown. Practically one could just go up easily from any direction and end up on the other side of the hill. As we continued our way up, more & more parched areas were visible; sadly enough nobody seemed to care.
From the top of the ridge, we continued down thru’ a rock-face paved with loose gravel, stones & earth that made the trail looked very dangerous, but somehow rather everybody seemed to passed that hurdle with no report of accident. All along the trail was on the exposed rock bed as a result of years of erosion and to paint an even uglier scene of the area, there were isolated dumping sites far from the eyes of the public. By the time we passed that bare landscape, the paper brought us down to a cooler enclave of rustling leaves & soft earth.
There were lots of trees to hold onto even as we snaked our ways along the skirt of the hill, thus making the trail gentle enough to any able Bunnies. In fact on my 2nd round when I caught up with Julieh who was then standing as bobtail for Roselyn, our senior guest was just doing fine inching her way down onto the ravine.
Then it was a slow climb up to the only hill of that run and just before I pulled myself up on that steep ledge, Ah Fook whizzed by us followed by Vic Vapourub. Rail-Jerker, our Bangladeshi guest struggled a bit to negotiate that last hurdle, however in the company of NiNi, Boss Bunny, $Bunny & Dorice his tiredness seemed to go off faster than the time he’d stopped for a breath. Once in a while we could hear sT. BeRnarD singing On-On just to encourage our guests.
Finally we were out to the main ‘hi-way’ which would then lead us to the base. The rest of the pack followed the open space to link to the starting point, while Julieh & I followed the correct trail out. It was still very bright when the last Bunny reached the base.

ON-ON
When we reached Gaya Seafood Restaurant for our On-On, there were already 3 tables fully taken and so Boss Bunny, Nini, $Bunny & I were allowed to have half-a-table setting altho’ our two guests made up to 7 pax including Kartini who joined us later. Tofu in thick chicken sauce came in first followed by eggplant sauté with minced meat. Later sweet & sour fish fillet was served then the fried chicken (just half of the bird after all we had half a table). The Hare was not around so we all paid the full price at RM10.0 per pax. After the meal, there were still a few Bunnies stayed behind for coffee and long chat. A MILLION THANKS TO JULIEH FOR ARRANGING EVERYTHING FROM RUNSITE TO ON-ON VENUE.

K2H2 BUNNIES RUN 2026

Run2026 – 01Apr09 Scribe: StriPp3R 4 Ivy Liew
Runsite & On-On: Gaya Seafood Restaurant, Inanam
Hare: Vivien Chen Co-Hare: William Pang
===========================
As for the scribe on Run2025, Wanderer had it published in PDF form so I couldn't upload it here.
++++++++++++++
This week's run:-
I was told that William Pang laid the run on his own as he wasn’t able to rope in willing Bunnies to accompany him into the jungle. Had the co-Hare been Tai Kor Chee, a lot of the Bunnies would have been more than willing to go inside the jungle with him. Anyway, even the Hare was nowhere to be seen. I was just wondering why a lot of Bunnies still want to be members when they don’t even run regularly nor attend most of Bunnies activities to enjoy some of the privileges—like a chance to berate, castigate, rebuke & mock the Ex-Co during AGM for its efficiency & misappropriation of the club’s fund. Need I say more, Dreamy Eyes?

Back to the run, well it rained heavily in KK early in the afternoon and as predicted the run was set to suit the Bunnies dwindling interest in the run per se. Much of the trail covered was just a repetition of few runs set in that area early this year. As I’ve said in my previous write-ups, Gaya Sea Food Restaurant would become a permanent hashing address of the Bunnies and may even adopt a few tables for registration as well.

There were two lady-guests (Rina supply the detail) and Bill brought along (or forced?) CIA Jo & MIA Doug (regulars with MFH3 & TaiPaau) to run with us. CIA Jo had more pressing needs as he was intensifying his exercise in preparation for their long trek across Keningau jungle, hoping that with additional 20kg of soiled ‘undies’, condoms, unwashed trousers & short as well as a potpourri of gardening tools, he would gain more muscles for the trek. This time Mr. Wanderer didn’t carry anything apart from his toy (GPS), altho’ it was suggested to piggy-back Fei Poh or Orang Kuat. However Rina attempted to carry along something, just to get comfortable with a few kg. of weight, while Vic vapourub & German Sausage who were also joining the escapade preferred to run bare.

Crossing the main hi-way, we followed the usual trail passing the boisterous dogs, right deep into the kampong. Tip-toeing from side to side trying to avoid the puddle, we were then led to the end of the kampong road at the base of the hill. Altho’ the rain had stopped, the havoc caused by it made on the trail almost impassable.

Leading the pack was FanSoo as I was just few meters behind him, while German Sausage tried to pace with us all the way to foot of the hill. It was slippery & ‘crabby’ trail but nevertheless manageable even for our guests. Of course I could say that CIA Jo hauling an additional 20kg must have stopped a few times to regain his breath when he reached that junction. Soon we started our ascent among the ferns and bamboo shards and German Sausage was not in good shape too that by the time we hit the cross-point from another hill, he was nowhere to be seen.

Once again we were crossing few waterways and altho’ it wasn’t deep we still have to wade thru it amidst tall ‘lalang’ & shiggies’. We encountered more puddles along the trail even to the junction up another hill. If it were a breeze for CIA Jo climbing that hill, it should be easy for Kartini despite the slippery mud and thorny palm trees that blocked our way.

However, once we reached the ridge where the pipeline from the gravity water snaked thru’, it was a gentle stroll along the side of the hill. In fact because of that gentle terrain, Dreamy Eyes who was leading the guests and the entourage of Kartini, Sau Kan our bobtail missed the junction towards the exit. Not until William shouted “On-On” to them did they realize they were off the paper.

Slowly but surely our steps were meticulously calculated as we went down to the ravine amidst cascading water that on my 2nd round had swollen into a raging waterfall. As we cruised along the skirt of the hill down to the kampong again, the trail cut thru’ the kampong houses then to the rickety bridge (take note: the bridge had not been done properly since the last time the Bunnies broke it).

For FRB’s it was only less than 30mins with minor mishap inside the jungle but no serious casualty.

ON-ON

The hare wasn’t around and so co-Hare William Pang had the liberty of ordering very sumptuous food. I wonder who served us the beer (Doug?) ‘coz I didn’t see beer on the other two tables. The first dish to arrive was the tofu in thick chicken sauce, followed by slimy, fermented green veggie (which explain why most Bunnies complain of something). The fried chicken was tender & juicy and the fish was quite sour but crispy & fresh. Let me reiterate the remarks I made earlier, our Hare was not present even during the On-On nor is she regular running with the bunnies and yet very generous in giving us a birthday treat. We had free On-On that night, so thank Sau Kan on her behalf with a down-down song.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If today is year 2024, BullSHiT would be 67yo and Boss Bunny would be 60+ while $Bunny & sT. Bernard would be over 70. I don’t know where the rest of golden Bunnies would be. So for those who are still able and mobile don’t wait until your 70+ and start to finish the run. Enjoy the run while you still can as time may not be gracious to you at all.

Week after week it has always been raining in KK and last week’s run was no exception. In fact the rain didn’t stop at all after it came down heavily just 30mins before the run began. Co-Hare Wanderer must have calculated the rate of the speed of clouds travelling towards Kepayan Ridge when they ventured in to set the run. Poor $Bunny was cooped inside the car to register us eventho’ only a handful would likely make an effort to brave the rain.

As the Bunny signboard pointed towards Golden Hill housing estate, the trail started from the entrance of the estate towards the open field. At least last week’s run was quite safe as there was no thunder & lightning that accompanied the heavy downpour. By the time the pack started the run, the creek was already swelling with water and once you step out from your car, you’ll certainly get wet from head to feet. The rain made the terrain also very slippery and muddy, especially the part where we had to climb up to the ledge of the hill.

It was slippery tho’ but for those who braved the rain, they were able to cross the deep drainage without any difficulty. As we began to gain height, we could see our cars lining up the whole stretch of the street of the housing estate. It was rather an idiotic accomplishment to stand along the ledge towards the radar station during heavy rain like that. Luckily there was no thunder or lightning ‘coz we were rather exposed in our entirety against any thunderstorm—not even a single big tree to shelter us.

Friendly faces popped out from radar post to check on these crazy people running in the rain. After passing by the parameter of the radar station, we were on the road of Shangri-la estate but the paper verged right into the lawn of the abandoned bungalow. Very familiar terrain indeed as we had passed that way so many times. From there, we eased ourselves among tall & sharp ‘lalang’ & undergrowth to follow the outer fencing of the gigantic water tank.

Once we overcome that last hurdle, it was an easy run down the slope towards the open space again. There used to be enclaves of illegal dwellings hidden from the eyes of the authorities but I think after a series of housing development around the area, the developer must have raze down the colony.

Some traces of holey papers had been washed away by the heavy rain while some still clung to the some isolated shrubs. Despite being drenched by the rain, there was no casualty and everyone got back to base in one piece. Thanks to Mr. Wanderer and company for the run.
